This penthouse in Rio de Janeiro was completely transformed to create a warm, functional home for a family with three children. The project involved a full reconfiguration of the layout, with all existing walls removed and significant structural alterations, including reinforcements to accommodate a private swimming pool.
The client's vision was to recreate the feeling of living in a house rather than an apartment, inspiring us to design a terrace that wraps around the entire flat. Every key room—bedrooms, living areas, and kitchen—opens directly onto this lush, plant-filled outdoor space, seamlessly blending inside and outside living.
Bespoke joinery was crafted throughout, giving each space—from the kitchen and living areas to the bedrooms and bathrooms—a unique, tailored character. Modern furnishings were carefully selected to complement the clean architectural lines, while a curated collection of contemporary art brings vibrant energy and a personal touch to the interiors.
Framed by breathtaking views of Rio's dramatic landscapes and distant mountains, the penthouse now feels expansive, natural, and connected to its environment—perfectly suited to the family’s lifestyle and vision.
